Farming in Vietnam
In February 2020 we travelled to Vietnam and Cambodia. While some of our trip was tourism we did have the opportunity to visit two vegetable farms, an agritourism rice farm, and an organic herb farm/cooking school.
We had the opportunity of observe farming practices — they fertilize with water soluble commercial fertilizers dispersed from two watering cans suspended from a neck yoke. In case you are counting that’s about 40 pounds carried by women who weigh little more than twice that.
Land is at a premium so every available square meter is in production. Commonly the beds are raised and frequently the lettuce beds were fringed with aromatic mints to discourage incursion by pests.
